Finally, this iconic city staple's remodel, including the bar, the stage, and those oh-so private rooms upstairs are all newly furnished and operational.
Welcome to Subversion, where the rules are a polite suggestion and the drinks are always flowing!

⚜ cakewalk and ramble (cw: aphrodisiacs)
There is plenty of room to dance the night away by Subversion's stage, where New Orleans-inspired live jazz, the blues, and folk music play well past midnight. The talented musicians work up to their loudest and brightest performances towards midnight. Lounge at one of the plush leather couches, rest at a standing table, or sit at the bar to enjoy the music if you're not light on your feet.
If you start feeling a little hot and bothered, that's normal, right? It is warm and crowded in here, and dancing has worked up a sweat. Or it could be that the rental instruments were laced with aphrodisiacs that range from mild to irresistible. Every blow of a trumpet or crooning of a saxophone releases a little bit more. Every song starts to feel that much more sensual. Grab a partner to go down on the dance floor—or find a private room upstairs.

⚜ gourmand
Libations in the form of champagne towers and cocktails are available for anyone to pluck from a table or a roaming tray. Fresh oysters and other seafood abound. Charcuterie boards and fondue dipping stations are never far, and there are a few tables also piled high with sweet pastries, cakes, and desserts—particularly the host's favorite, beignets. Coffee and tea are also available for those looking for a pick-me-up.
Indulge as much as you like. It's always encouraged here.

⚜ take five (cw: forced truths, privacy invasion, surveillance, lack of privacy, voyeurism)
If you're looking for more quiet, why not roam upstairs?
One of the long walls upstairs has been filled with blank, framed paper, with a table nearby stocked with writing utensils of all colors, including gold tubes of lipstick. A library ladder runs along the wall for anyone daring enough to claim a high frame. Write a secret (or not-so secret) message for someone. Make your mark or a resolution. Subversion invites the citizens of Duplicity be a part of the their new year. Watch for that floor-to-ceiling mirror nearby, though. Perhaps your secret desire will be revealed before you have a chance to own up to it?
The music still reaches the comfy couches and circular booths, and there's a bar up here too. Settle down to chat and get to know someone new or a special someone or two better. If the mood takes you, you can always take a peek behind the large, wooden double doors—where private rooms (unless there's a peeping elf nearby) stocked with all sort of ideas (chains, vibrators, blindfolds, oh my!) await. Anyone have a resolution they want to fulfill early?

⚜ midnight
Just before midnight, champagne is handed out to every guest, and all are asked to clear the dance floor. As the countdown begins, the Fleur de Lis medallion, about the size of a chandelier, which was unassumingly hanging above the crowd during the festivities, slowly drops, surrounded by streams of white sparks, utterly harmless but spectacularly beautiful. Don't forget to kiss your date when the clock strikes—or maybe just whoever's next to you?
💥✨Happy New Year! 💥✨
A blues rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" kicks off the new year and the next few hours of music and celebration!
